Diploma in Business Administration

Program Objective

The Business Administration Diploma is designed to prepare students for the demands of today’s fast-paced business environment. Its objective is to expose students to a vast array of business knowledge, management and administration skills, and practical tools that will assist them in dealing with situations within a business-related career. Courses focus on professional skills required by today’s employers, including knowledge of how businesses utilize technology, e-commerce, business correspondence, office procedures, project management, and employment success strategies.

This program provides the student with a range of business knowledge and skills, which cross several disciplines, resulting in a well-rounded and highly skilled employee. Graduates of this program are prepared for a variety of entry-level administrative and management trainee
positions in a broad range of employment settings, specializing in those areas of interest, experience, and greatest ability.

Careers in accounting and finance, marketing, production and operations, human resources, and general administration are available to those students who possess the proper combination of business skills, experience, personal ability, and aptitude.

Academy of Learning’s Business Administration Program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation on which to build a career in business.

The general curriculum enables graduates to assume a variety of roles (support and/or management trainee positions in business fields such as marketing, accounting and finance, production and operations, and human resources) within the public and private sectors. The Business Administration Program:

  • Provides the skills to progress into manager-level careers, given the proper combination of skills, experience, personal attributes, and additional training.
  • Exposes students to a vast array of business knowledge, management and administration skills, and practical tools that will assist them in dealing with situations within a business-related career.

 

The Business & Administration Sector

The business and administration sector is a huge industry employing approximately 2.7 million people in various positions from administrative assistants to bank managers. According to the information found in Canada Prospects 2003-2004, this industry is expected to grow by an estimated 280,000 positions over the next five years.[1] As noted above, retirements will result in many of the job openings.

Overall, the business and services sectors have shown healthy gains in May. These sectors employ the highest percentage of workers with business administration skills. Canadian labour market information obtained from the JobFutures.ca[2] web site indicates a fair to good outlook to 2007 for the various occupations for which graduates of the Business Administration program qualify.

Business Administration and Management jobs require a high degree of dedication and people skills besides the technical skills.  We take a lot of pride in our graduates and our program is designed to impart the same sense of pride in their work as well as the soft skills that are so essential for the job.
