Project Management Fundamentals

Overview and objectives

The Project Management Fundamentals course introduces key project management concepts and practices. This course is designed to provide the project management novice with the theory, knowledge, and tools required to better understand the processes, knowledge areas, stakeholder requirements, resources, and constraints associated with project management. 

Students learn about project management within the context of the five process groups of project management:

  • the initiating process group,

  • the planning process group,

  • the executing process group, and

  • the closing process group.

This introductory project management course presents the concepts and practices used by project managers in fields such as construction, marketing, and information technology, but focuses on the application of project management principles to the field of information technology. 

Delivery Formats

  • One Day Classroom Training; or
  • Self paced training for the individual with one-on-one attention

Course prerequisites

None.  Some project management experience is beneficial.
